When you think of an antivirus program, does paying money come to mind?

When you think of an antivirus program, do you think of paying money? Money for the program, and money for the service every year. Or money for somethign else, perhaps extras?

This is for a new article I am writing focused on educating people about free antivirus clients that can be downloaded for majorgeeks.

No I tend not to worry about money or paying for antivirus subscriptions as I know that there are free scanners such as AVG and Avast! which do the job really well, and in some cases do better.

the best ones cost money- kaspersky,panda,mcafee... etc I like the idea of software companies compeating for my money, making their software the best. Hey they have to feed their families too, it doesn't bother me paying a yearly fee $30-50 dollars/year it's not really a lot.

But if the best was free that would be a different story.

I paid for a NAV subsciption....once. When that ran out I went free - AVG then Avast - but not do to the fact that I had to pay. It was due to the bloat of the app. If all the reliable and well supported products move to a pay format, I'd subscribe.

Norton slowed my computer down. When it expired I started using AVG free.

Thanks everyone, I've used this data in my article, and now I only need to know how much ram it uses up to be complete.

NN, too late for your article but I use Avast free. Like a lot of others I went through MCAfee, Nortons, AVG and Avast. I wouldn't mind paying for the best but object to paying for yearly renewals. Kind of stupid thinking on my part, I guess, as they have to spend money to keep their program up-to-date.

    Will stick with Avast. Bazza
