It would not uninstall ...? Dang please do this:
    Panda online active scan
    http://www.activescan.com
assuming you can get online with some browser.

    Another thing to try:

    Re-install Firefox.

When you say, "it did not budge" what do you mean by this.

Also, be sure to use, TimW's suggestion, and run a scan.

Were you trying to run the panda scan within IE, since Firefox wasn't working?. If that is the case, I was asking about the version number, via, starting IE, then clicking on HELP (menu), then About.

BTW, have you tried, re-installing firefox?

Can you give us the exact error code you received with the attempt of the panda scan?

this is the message I get when doing trying to do the panda scan
An error has occurred downloading Panda ActiveScan. Please repeat the process. If the error occurs again, restart your system and try againPossible causes of this error are:

Not allowing the application's ActiveX control to be downloaded.

    Problems with the Internet connection.

The error could be due to a download error or an installation error due to lack of hard disk space, privileges etc.,...

    Try the following:

Click START, RUN, type in: MSCONFIG (press enter).

Select the radial button (.) Selective STARTUP.
Uncheck the box [ ] "Load Startup Items".

Press OK, then YES, to reboot.

Try uninstalling Firefox, once you are booted back into the computer.
    Then re-install.

I have to sign off now, so, (I'm late for dinner by 8 hours), someone should be by to help you out further.

The active X issue may be resolved by doing the following:

    Download:

    http://majorgeeks.com/download.php?det=4899

Extract to a folder you can get to easily.

    Like c:\DAF

    Double click on: Dial-a-fix.exe
    Check the box "ActiveX controls/codecs"
    Check the box "Explorer/IE/OE/shell/WMP"

    Click Go.

If this process asks you to reboot, simply, restart, then run this tool again, and continue, till it says "done".

Then try the panda scan again.

Off, to cooking (fast), then bed......

I don't really know what all this means, but I would recommend just doing a fresh install of your operating system. After you restart, everything should be working fine. I also suggest using a good anti-virus program. I recommend Bit Defender. I don't know how much it may cost, but it's worth every penny. Hope you get everything working.:)

If you dont know what all of this means to help Babyturk, then why did you reply?

Please read To Those Offering Help To Others

Re-installs are the last option if it can be helped, theefool and TimW are on the right track and will have these issues sorted, some problems take longer than others, and following them to a final point is worth it, especially as we are informed by Babyturk they do not have an install CD.

Sorry ...you probably slid back a page or two (what with all the posting of late - if it happens again, just repost - bump - to get our attention:) :) )
Now, did avg find these items?
Would suggest two things first off:
    Ad-aware:
    http://www.majorgeeks.com/Ad-Aware_SE_Personal_d506.html
    CCleaner:
    http://www.majorgeeks.com/CCleaner_d4191.html
Run both programs (would suggest just the cleaner in CCleaner until we get alittle further along.)

One last thing ...right clcik my compter and tell us what it says as to the amount of ram you have.

I already have those programs on my computer and use them regularily my ad-aware SE I run once a week and my CCleaner I run daily before logging off of window.
As for the ram I have 256.0 mb

Until I can get back to you:
Registry Checker—Comes with Windows 98. It's the best program to use for automatically backing up and restoring the Registry and for fixing the most common problems with the Registry.
    Registry Checker
Registry Checker comes with Windows 98. Finally, Microsoft ships a useful Registry program with the operating system! This program fulfills the following purposes:
Backs up and restores the Registry
Scans and fixes a variety of Registry errors
Optimizes unused space in the Registry
The best part about Registry Checker is that it largely does its own thing. Windows 98 starts Registry Checker every time you boot the operating system. Registry Checker then backs up the Registry to CAB files (compressed archive files) that you find in C:\Windows\Sysbckup. It also scans the Registry for errors. If it finds any, Windows 98 restarts the computer in MS-DOS mode and runs Registry Checker to restore a good backup copy of the Registry automatically or to fix those errors.
    REGCLEAN

REGCLEAN is a freeware utility from Microsoft that repairs a number of problems that are common to Microsoft products. This utility isn't nearly as useful as Norton WinDoctor, but it serves the needs of many users.
