Please help avoid Chinese drum

I am tired of the hastle with my drum on my Brother MFC 4550. A couple months back, my oem drum bit the dust, so I did the remanufactured thing with a company in NY. It lasted a few copies then started spewing out junk. Sent it back and the replacement did the same thing. Did the eBay thing - more junk - remanned in China. Go to the store - made in China.
Does anyone know if I can still get OEM Japanese DR200 drum for this unit? Even Brother would not answer my question. I am going to ditch them for a new lazer with dependable replacements if I can't get a decent drum. I have this feeling they sell all Japanese OEM in their printers, but use Chinese stuff for their "official" replacements.

 

I don't how much your MFC cost you, and how old it is, but sometimes you have to cut your losses and buy a new MFC. I did. My new replacement MFC cost only a fraction of my old secondhand MFC. BTW, it was also a Brother, and also with drum trouble. Bazza

The printer is about 8 years old. The unit has been very dependable and trouble free and probably did print about 20000 text pages when the drum finally quit. My point is Brother is a Japanese company, but the only replacement drum I can find for this machine are all made in China, remanned in China or whatever. I personally don't have anything against the Chinese, but I just find their electrical products and tools to be below the quality I am used to. If I go buy the Chinese "OEM" drum and it works at all, I will probably not get near the life out of it as the original Japanese drum. I just want to know if there is any way to buy a Japanese-made drum for this unit.
P.S. I do not include Taiwanese products with Chinese. I like Taiwanese quality.
