Are my files stored on the memory sticks (RAM) or hard drive?

Looking at release dates the Optiplex 390 may have appeared first in 2012.
    Here are the diagnostic lights

If the 3rd and 4th lights are orange, it indicates a memory problem.
Do what is suggested in the article.

Files aren't store in RAM. They are stored on the computer's hard drive or on storage devices (USB sticks, sd cards, external portable hard drives) that you connect or insert into the computer.

I would re-seat the memory sticks (RAM modules). RAM is also known as "volatile memory", as it does not store data. All the examples plodr listed are non-volatile memory.

If you are not comfortable doing so, perhaps you have a friend who is. Disconnect the power, and no static electricity.
