I feel like a gotta tell a story so I don't get people trying to fix a problem that has already tried to be fixed........My story below,,,,,,,,Problem stated at the end.

    My story
I was trying to find a video/audio recorder(records the screen and not download from the site) to record off sites that blocked recording, the audio was important, because believe it or not it was not porn, but informational sites, so audio was very important. Well through the course of talking with many MagorGeeks I found that no recorder would work because I did not have a "Stereo Mix" in my "Sound--->Recorder" section of my laptop. Here is a link to that... http://i1007.photobucket.com/albums/af199/brahman8908/w.jpg This is what I should have as I was told---> http://forums.majorgeeks.com/attachment.php?attachmentid=144583&d=1283104258 Through the process of searching the internet I believe that this no "Stereo Mix" thing is a default settings that is always on for low budget sound cards.

    My problem
Is there any way to find a way around the low budget sound card and get me a Stereo Mix so I can record audio with my video? Anyone got any really smart tricks?

Edit: Besides the obvious get a new laptop or sound card...... no money, sorry I'm poor as heck.

My apologies............I have used CamStudio and Free Screen Video Capture by Topviewsoft, I have used one other, but I forget which one. In CamStudio when I try to select Record audio from speaker it just says "WaveoutInitialize() Failed". But they both record the the video just fine.

This is not helpful man, that is 165mb software that costs $300 dollars. I almost wonder if you recommend it to make a joke?

Do you understand the problem I have? Because I would love for someone who is very smart to help me.

I understand that you need a sound card for Stereo Mix option, i didn't tell you to bought the software or something like that, there's trial versions, and i don't know what are you really trying to record (if its professional or for home use, etc...)

And i understand too that you're poor...

I though was better try to get some software to do the job than directly get hardware for that, i don't know if all software for recording needs that option also.

Ok, it's fine, excuses, i'm not smart... :) hope your problem get solved.

    Cheers.:zzz

I figured this thread needed to be solved. I know a whole lot more about computers now than I did when I originally posted this. Below is the solution.......

It is for most people more of a driver issue than a crappy sound card issue. Especially for windows 7 users, the option for stereo mix seems to go away upon update for many people.

So your two options are either to go to Control Panel--->Device Manager---> Scroll down to Sound, Video, and Game Controller, then right click on every driver and click update and have it search automatically online. I had two drivers on my new one laptop, and only one on my old laptop.

The solution above did not work for my old laptop, so as an alternative I went to my manufactures website and found an updated driver. Even though my laptop told me I had the latest. it still did not pick this up. But regardless, the manufacturers website did have it, and that is how I got my Stereo mix option for my old laptop.

Now I am not bashing or anything, but SlimDrivers did not pick up the out of date driver on my new laptop, nor did it pick up the alternative driver for my old laptop. So don't assume it doesn't exist just because SlimDrivers or other auto driver update programs doesn't pick it up.

Good luck to you all. And thanks everyone for trying to help, I know sometimes difficult issues can make a grump out of me.
