Please Help Im going crazy

Please help my pointer just keeps blinking so fast it practically disappears. The laptops busy light isnt on while the pointer is doing this and you cant hear the hard drive either. I can hit a arrow button and it will stop for a second then it starts again. I tried plugging in a external mouse but the pointer is still doing it. So I unplugged the external mouse and now only have the touchpad again. I went to the hp site and downloaded new drivers to see if it would stop but it didnt. This is driving me crazy please help you will be my hero LOL.:cry

I have a
hp omnibook 6100 laptop
256mbs of ram
xp home
1.3 ghz
its all stock stuff that came with this laptop

 

Run an extensive virus scan as you could have malware that is causing this.

 

Is there a program you can recomend?

 

I tried a external mouse and it still does it. It is driving me crazy I want to throw this laptop in the road and run over it 5-6 times LOL
