please help my computer is driving me MAD

please help me. i have two problems on my computer that are driving me mad.
1) when i sign into homail using ie 6 i get a page cannot be displayed messege. www.hotmail.com page loads fine but once i enter my name and passwords i get the error messege.

2) when i try to download windows updates i get a information bar messege that says "your security settings do not allow websites to use activeX controls installed on your computer...". i have foollowed suggestions like setting my internet security settings to default, scanning for spyware and viruses etc. i've done all that with no luck. someone please help.

please do not suggest using firefox. i already use it and it works fine but i want to fix problems i am encountering with ie6 sp2. my platform is windows xp sp2.use za internet security and arond 4 spyware utilities

 

Sounds like an overzealous Zone Alarm to me. Try it without ZA running to see if that is the case. If it then works you'll need to tweak the settings on ZA to allow you into the relevant pages.
