Please help my laptop is screwed

Hello major geeks
I have a laptop made by Tiny (Liquidation Tiny)
It runs on Xp pro.. My problem is that i came home today to find. my pc not working, something has been erased by my youngest sun. No idea what.
But when i try to turn on the pc it simply wont boot..?
it comes up with a black screen and some text written in the top left corner, now this is the extra problem, the left hand side of my laptop monitor has a narow strip of dead pixels running from top to bottom, thus blocking the first letter of the text, which reads as follows;

TLDR is missing
ress Ctrl+Alt+Del to restart

I can guess the P missing for the second line but i've know idea about the first line, and even if i did i wouldn't have a clue as to what to do?

I'd truly be amazed if anyone can help,

Hi and Welcome to MajorGeeks.

The first letter is N, and the error message would be NTLDR is missing.

A lot of times this error appears because the computer is trying to boot from a floppy or CD Rom, so make sure this isn't the case first.

Anyway, see if THIS helps.

I'll give that a crack of the wip..
one thing though, i dont have a cd with windows Xp written on it, as i bought the laptop with xp ready installed.. Although I do have a Cd labbled "RELOAD BACKUP CD" would that be the one?
Im a little concerned cuz i dont really want to wipe the hard drive clean if i can help it... I'll wait for a respnsebefore i do any more...
Oooh just had a thought, my laptop came originaly installed with xp home. But a mate about a year ago put xp pro on is this going to be a problem? Hmm.!
There is no floppy or cd in drive by the way.

If you don't have a Windows CD, then the link I supplied is useless, and your options are limited.

I get really angry with companies, who only do it to cut costs, when they don't provide a Windows CD.


Anyway, if I understand your reply, your laptop currently has XP Pro on it, but you don't have a Windows CD. You only have a "recovery" (or reload or whatever it's called) CD?

If that's the case, there isn't much you can do really apart from formatting and reinstalling using the recovery CD.

 

Sounds like your laptop was dropped in addition to everything else, hence the dead pixels on the LH side.

 

I'll ask around and see if i can get hold of a copy of windows xp from some where...
laptop wasn't droped as far as i know it was just made by a shite company who have now folded.. Sharks.!!
