    Hello,
I have just recently purchased and pieced together a computer with the following parts:

MB SOYO SY- KT880 DRAGON 2 RTL
    VGAATI|A-I-W RADEON 9600 128M 8X RT
CPU AMD|2800/333 ATHLON XP BARTON R
    Kingston DDR 512MB|DDR400 CL3 PC3200 RTL
    MODEM APLO|EFN656-GHW-INPR 56KFM RT
    CD-ROM|LITEON LTN-529S WHITE %
    CASE MGE|CASE CA-VIPER-KR 500W RTL

Furthermore I reused my two hard drives from my old computer the master is an 80 GB Seagate with windows already installed and ready to go and the slave is a 60 GB Maxtor.

    Now the problem:

Upon my first boot up my configuration was the Hard drives were plugged into the IDE1 Primary slot and my CD-ROM plugged into IDE2 Secondary slot. I went into the BIOS to set up boot settings ect. and the BIOS was not seeing my CD-ROM or anything plugged into the IDE secondary (IDE2) for that matter. I saved settings changed and exited and allowed boot to continue. I am running Windows 2000 Professional and as some may know there are two loading screens for Windows. First one is black background with white letters and progress bar and the other is the winLogo loading screen. After the first black screen with white letters loading screen is done I immediatly get the Blue Screen and it is the stop error saying "Inaccessible Boot Device". This happens with anything I've tried.

I've tried disabling ALL other devices in the BIOS so that the HDD is the ONLY boot device and I STILL get the message... I know the HDD's aren't corrupt because I can plug them both back into my other computer and they work just fine. I've tried changing jumper settings on the HDD's themselves... I've tried removing the slave and booting with just the 80 GB HDD and still nothing.

I am wondering if there are settings in the SOYO BIOS that I am missing  ... do I have to disable the RAID function somehow. I would really appreciate ABSOLUTELY ANY ADVICE OR COMMENTS! I have been trying to fix this for a couple of days now and I just want my new computer to work. Please HELP!

Feel free to respond to this post or directly e-mail me at Viperxl1@hotmail.com Thanks ALOT!

hrm. it looks like you didn't seem to reinstall windows. microsoft windows (especially the NT versions) do not respond too well to hardware changes. here's what you can do:

find your windows 2000 install disk
boot off of the cdrom drive of the new computer
    wait...
now go through the setup process and be sure to REPAIR windows (not install a fresh copy). after it scans for existing windows installs, it will allow you to press r to repair that installation or something.
just wait and follow all the instructions on the screen
when you're done, you will have to run windows update again since the critical updates will be gone, BUT all your programs will still be there:)

and whatever you do, don't do a format. if you see a screen telling you to partition/format your hard drive, you need to go back and tell the computer to repair and not do a fresh install.

    good luck!
