Please help! NVDIA driver won't install.I had it installed for a few days after a week of trying(wouldn't restart after installing, screen went black and button turned yellow) and it worked beautifully, then it stopped working again and the screen started shaking and I saw light yellow & white stripes and then it went dark again. I have to run in safe mode first then keep NVDIA disabled again like before to get into Windows and use my computer.Everything looks horrible and it's so hard to use! I have a Dell Inspiron 530s and I'm running Windows Vista.I'm told I have an integrated card on motherboard but I don't know for sure because I don't know what I'm looking at. My computer is opened. I believe I saw that I'm running on VGASAVE non plug n play but not sure what's going on now. Under VGASAVE-RESOURCES it says CONFLICTING DEVICE LIST:Intel(R) G33/G31/P35 EXPRESS CHIPSET PCI EXPRESS ROOT PORT 29C1 It wants me to reinstall NVDIA when I go to display adaptors but when I try to reinstall NVDIA now it says "the syntax of the INS file is invalid." Before it just wouldn't install. I tried installing from NVDIA website and windows updates.Dell website lists 2 things under video to install.NVDIA is listed as important and it also lists Intel G/31/G33/Q33/Q35 GRAPHICS CONTROLLER(older date) as URGENT but when I try it says computer doesn't meet minimum requirements for installing the software.I'm running on generic card I guess and I can hardly see. Please help! I have a new hard drive.thought that would solve everything! Little did I know! Did a whole computer check through Dell and it said there's a problem with 2D3D Video and it told me to take steps to check and make changes but there was no "advanced" option and a lot of ?????? Please help!

Woah. Your telling me you have an Intel video card AND nVidia? We might need to straighten this out first.

Looking at the back of your case you can tell what card you are plugged into a couple ways. Onboard video is usually up higher and surrounded by where your USB ports, keyboard and mouse inputs are. If it is not onboard then it is a larger card that you can remove usually lower in the case and can easily be removed with 1 phillip head screw.

So, now you know which type of card you have, onboard or a separate video card plugged into a slot on the motherboard.

If you have a separate video card and are plugged into it then you need to go into the BIOS and disable onboard video. Your owners manual will explain how.

If you are plugged into the onboard video then you need to plug it into the separate video card as it is probably a better card since most Intel video cards are garbage.

    Once we clear this up:

Second: Drivers from the computer manufacturer and Windows Update are always out of date. Get them from the manufacturer.

Go here and select Auto Detect Your GPU and get the drivers there.

Thanks so much for getting back to me! I don't know what a video card looks like. I have 2 green boards in here. One larger one level with the power cord and a smaller one below it. There's a small metal thing above the larger green board that says FOXCONN and then the black fan that scared the shit out of me when I dared to touch it! My daughter changed out the hard drive.Someone else was wondering the same about NVDIA but I investigated it and read where they make both separate & integrated cards. I don't see anything that unplugs.I thought I saw somewhere in this dam computer that I have an Intel integrated card, but I'm not positive!I was told if it's the card, the cheapest way to go is the plug-in kind but I don't even see where I can plug one in! Also, why would Dell website UPDATES tell me that I need both NVDIA Driver AND Intel graphics controller? They go by my service tag number. Also,I stopped getting that message and was able to download NVDIA but would not install on restart.Windows Help pops up says to update NVDIA,or look for 3rd party updates or go to NVDIA website for help. I've tried everything I could on my own, computer's 5 years old,out of warranty.I tried self-help with Dell,Microsoft,Windows and another blog that was completely useless.Only told me it sounds like a hardware problem.

The easiest would be if you went to the Dell support website http://www.dell.com/support/drivers/ and enter your service tag. This will give you a list of all devices installed on your Dell.

What network card does it tell you that you have? I do not think that a Dell Inspiron has both NVIDIA and Intel cards installed.

Ok,I still don't see anything that's plugged in but I ran that driver test and it said it couldn't detect automatically and said to click on manual so:confused I installed the latest driver for Windows Vista 32 bit which it said was GFORCE 301.42 but the same thing happened. The monitor shuts off during restart and the fan gets REAL loud and I have to shut the computer off manually. At least I'm not seeing the blue screen any more. So I went in safe mode and disabled NVDIA again, that's the only way I can get back in without being in safe mode but everything looks LOUSY! Can you please try helping me find the card again? Maybe I'm looking right at it? Windows has an older version of NVDIA that I tried before and so does Dell. I had it loaded one time, have no idea how it worked but it didn't last but 2 days! THANK-YOU! The smaller card at the bottom looks like it's in a slot,is that what you mean by plugged in?

GOT THIS FROM THE WEBSITE! NEVER THOUGHT TO LOOK FURTHER THAN DRIVER UPDATES! IS THIS GOING TO BE EASY NOW?
Your Dellâ„¢ computer provides the following slots for PCI and PCI Express cards:

One PCI Express x16 card slot (SLOT1)

One PCI Express x1 card slot (SLOT2)

Two PCI card slots (SLOT3, SLOT4)

This is located at the top, there's a plug connected to it and it's above the fan,it's number 29 on the diagram of the inside of my computer.:Video Connector (VGA)
