Please Help. Pc Driving Me Nuts

Hi Yesterday, I removed my old antivirus program and installed AVG free.
When we tried to sign into a free website the login button just ignored us,
and on the bottom kept saying Javascript void. Tried all recommended antivirus scans and spyware but pc just not letting us login. It won't even let us download from some places.

Any ideas??. Friend told us to reformat but wouldn't want to do that unless I have to. Tried doing system restore, but it won't even let me do that.

 

What was the "old" anti-virus you had installed?

Mcafee that wouldnt update kept saying faulty, wifey put virgin total on this morning and its updating properly now. but everything else is still not right.

 

Run the McAfee Removal tool (MCPR.exe) at the link below and try the website(s) again.

Rin the program it finished successfully.
But still no luck on the websites.

 

Disable any pop-up/spam blockers you have installed. If that doesn't work, run the IEFix tool below.

Thanks can sign in again.
Can't understand what happened though to cause it.
It was the iefix that did it.
