Please help! Re: Firewall faliure and spy ware

I have windows xp home eddition and I have been having some problems with my internet conectivity. I am using rogers hi speed internet service. My modem is allways fine and is online but my pc is unable to connect to my modem, and if somehow it does it looses the ip adresss and my ip then is changed to 0.0.0.0. Also when I try to turn on my windows xp firewall the following message appeares: An error accured while internet connection sharing was being enabled. Cannot complete this function. I beleive that there is a program running somewhere in the background of my pc but I am unable to detect it! I have spy-bot search and destroy, adaware 6.0 and avg virus scan-All of these are up to date and are not recovering anything at all!
If someone could help me out with some intelligent suggestions I would be very thankfull & thanx in advance!

 

I had a similiar problem once, due to LAN driver problems. I went back to a system restore point when I still had a connection and haven't had a reoccurence so far. It could be a bad LAN card also. Call your ISP, they may also be able to help. You can do better than the XP firewall, too. You can find them here (several are free) http://www.majorgeeks.com/downloads34.html
