I replaced a acer aspire 5100 MB and A brand new sata hard drive. When I boot all i get is a very smal flicker of the screen and thats it. It will run but no lcd display. What could be up? It's not the lcd. It has to be something. Couldn't I at least get into the BIOS or something? I'm getting nothing. Please please help. Thanks guys.

I don't have a lot of experience in this but it sounds like it could be the lcd inverter. Did you check to make sure it is connected? Or possibly the video cable?

I'm not sure they will allow you to return the laptop after what you have done!! Opening the case usually voids warranty!

    Hi

Double double check all your connections again. Is this your laptop or someone elses? I ask this as to gain history of the machine as in was it ok before the motherboard change, and what prompted the MB change and is the MB replacement a brand new one or recon?

Was the laptop dropped or liquid spilt on it?

If the rest sould like its starting up ok CPU fan and HDD spinning and you tried external monitor, although in most cases you have to set that up via Windows in getting the external display as a primary monitor.

So would be checking the screen connection to mobo again, even if you have to strip the laptop down again and slowly rebuild.
