    Hi,

I bought 200GB drive and put it in the PC. The Disk Management easily recognised it and I partitioned/formatted it as second base drive. All good apart from the part where it has total volume of only 128GB instead of the 200GB.

I opened PC and double-checked, the hard drive is definately 200GB.

    I am using Windows XP.

When I right click and look at properties it says about 128GB free and about 70GB used. I have not copied/installed anything to this new second drive.

Could you kindly help me get the full 200GB from this drive? Thank you very much.

    Thanks for the reply.

No, I do not have SP2. Is there another way other than SP2 to fix this?

you need at least SP1 .. although SP2 will do fine .. you can check in disk management (control panel>admin tools>comp management) to see if there is about 60 gigs of unallocated space ... then you just format that and you've got use of the full drive

I wonder if partioning the drive would bring the drive to its fullest.....

What brand hard drive is this? Usually the hard drive manufacturer's website has help/support for this common problem.
