PLEASE HELP URGENt

hell all im new here and i need a little help i have a pc running windows xp home edition when i boot it boots up a blank screen with a blinking cursor
even in safe mode it does the same thing no matter what option i choose it goes to a blank screen with a cursor no functions work not even ctrl -alt-del
im at a lost i can not reformat this drive thers alot of info id rather try and keep.. i know i can ad another drive and copy but id rather not .......

Next i try to do a repair console so i can use the restor featur it my problem there is it prompts me for the admin password i have never set a admin password but it wont let me past that part i press enter and it gives me an error is there some sort of defualt password or something please help this is driven me nuts

 

Try booting off the WinXP or your restore CD and doing a repair or a fixboot.

 

Try "none".

i tryed that and nothing seems to work

 

i did that but it ask me for a password for the admin and ive never set one up and when i try to by pass it it after the third time it locks the systema nd forces reboot

 

Is this the method you are using?

1. Restart your machine with the XP CD in the drive, and boot from the cd.

2. After the boot sequence is done loading all the generic drivers, you're given some options:

1. To Repair your Windows XP Installation, Press R
2. To Install Windows XP to the chosen Partition, press Enter

Press Enter at Install Windows
You will get the License Agreement Screen, and then it will scan your hard drives looking for an existing Installation. At this point You want the Repair Option. This is the repair process where you don't need to enter commands.

what command would i use to restore it from there

 

If you are talking about the Repair Option press R.
