please help with mobo upgrade - advice appreciated

can anyone please tell me if an msi pm8m3-v is a worthy upgrade over my via p4pb400-fl? i know there are better boards i could buy but ive found a bundle deal i just cant pass up and will be getting a much better cpu with it.
but, i'm not making a mistake with this msi board am i?

I have a MSI 848P NEO V Socket 478 Intel 848P ATX Intel Motherboard at home, and I am very happy with it.

One thing I noticed while looking at the board you are considering is that it has a Via chipset, and they have had some difficulties with their USB 2.0 implementation. See Below from here.

USB does NOT react well to Overclocking. PCI bus speeds over 33 MHz can cause USB problems on your system. The timing issues that seem to plague the VIA/USB Host Controllers can be further complicated by PCI bus speeds that are operating outside of specification. Reset the FSB and Multiplier to Default Values.

 

yeah my current board is via. ive always had problems with it, including the usb. not to mention the onboard sound never worked, from day 1. i have read the reviews in your first link. after an hour of searching those were the only reviews i could find, which is why i became suspicious, cause i think this board is not brand new, is it?

 

I'm not certain... the links below are for retail products, not OEM or refurb... I don't know where you are looking to buy this board, but it never hurts to ask!
