please help with my HP a6640d..

i downgraded my hp a6640d from vista to xp sp2.. but i don't have the drivers for xp.. an someone please help me..

 

which drivers are you looking for.

 

According to HP your computers the mb was custom made for hp/compaq to support vista. in order to get the drivers you need you may have to get them individually. Run an everest report to see what items you have installed then load the drivers individually.

I'm not trying to be an a-hole, but why is it that NOBODY thinks about XP drivers before they dump Vista and install XP?? And why do so many people dump Vista without even giving it a chance???

is it really the same with the drivers of hp a6540d?? cause i downloaded the a6540d drivers and tried it on my a6640d.. the chipset, video, and ethernet works.. but there was a problem with the audio driver.. cause everytime i open a mp3 player it always says that "bad sound driver.... blah blah blah", and i always do reinstalling and rebooting..so if theres any chance can u give me another audio driver for xp..thx btw

Did you uninstall the currently installed sound driver? Did you then install KB888111 (use the link I posted above)? After installing KB888111, did you try installing the sound driver? Try installing the sound driver via the Device Manager/Hardware Wizard. You'll need to extract the file you downloaded from the link I provided above. You can do this with WinRAR or the freeware TUGzip. TUGzip can extract RAR files, ZIP files, 7zip files, many EXE files, and just about any archive or self-extracting archive you're likely to encounter. When installing TUGzip just click 'Next' all the way through. At the end of the install, there will be a little check-box for "Launch TUGzip"; go ahead and launch it; click "Next" all the way through again until you see a "Finish" button; there will be a column on the left side with a bunch of different archive formats; click the "Select All" button; click "Finish". A window will open that looks like an Explorer-type window, close it. Right click the file you downloaded (the file you want to extract) and click the 2nd upward pointing green arrow, it will say something like "Extract to: .\filename" and the file will extract to a folder of the same name. Then use the steps in this thread to install the sound driver using the Device Manager and Hardware Wizard. Be sure to uninstall the current sound driver, install KB888111 and you chipset drivers before installing the new sound driver.
