    Hello everyone,

firstly, I am new to this forum so i apologise to the administrators if this is posted in the wrong section.

    My problem:
Up until a couple of weeks ago my laptop was working absolutely fine. Now all of a sudden their is serious performance issues. I cant have more than one program running at one, eg. iTunes won't open while IE is open. Nearly all of my programs are taking a lifetime to open, if at all. Anti virus keeps turning itself off and I am unable to do any kind of virus search, with my anti virus usually giving up and crashing at about 25%. :banghead

I am at a complete loss as to what to do next, and a work colleague has pushed me in the general direction of you guys in hope that you can help me.

Please let me know if you have any ideas of what this could be, or how I could diagnose what it actually is thats effecting my PC.

    Thanks a lot in advance

    Hi and Welcome

No your ok with the section you have posted in, so dont worry. Its possible that you do indeed have a virus/malware of some kind which is slowing your PCs performance down, so best option at this point is to try the below.

See if you can run the below and remember to start a new thread in the malware area of this forum.

can also do the above guide in Safe Mode if normal mode wont work for you correctly.

What version of Windows do you have?

Generally, if you follow the directions for the tool carefully and still cannot get it to run, it's ok to leave it and move on to the next step. I would check the instructions step by step again and move on if it won't work.

It looks like you've done almost all of the work. You need to run MGtools, exactly as instructed and then check to see if it has resolved your issues.

If you are working normally again, just stop by here to leave an update.

If you are not working normally yet and the tools found malware, there are instructions in the malware link for posting to the malware forum. You can mention there that RootRepeal didn't work.
