    Good Day,

I need some help on the following setup if at all possible:

    The Scenario:

One wireless network with two Access Points (192.168.10.77 & 192.168.10.78) set up in WDS Mode. 192.168.10.77 has a wan connection to adsl (Dynamic) for internet access. 192.168.10.78 is connected to a cisco 800 series adsl router with an internal ip address of 192.168.10.1. the cisco router is connected to an isp's vpn network and an exchange server has been set up to send and receive emails. This server is in the 192.168.100.0 ip range.

I have a file server on the 192.168.10.0 range (local network) that runs local DNS with a dns forwarder to 192.168.10.77 & this router has a static route that forwards all traffic for 192.168.100.0 to 192.168.10.1 (internal ip address of cisco router). My default gateway for the local network is 192.168.10.77.

I have a local DNS server running on the Exchange Server side with dns forwarders to the ISP's dns servers. I have set up secondary zones on both servers for the other server and have enable zone tranfers accordingly.

My intention is to access the exchange server through 192.168.10.1 (which I can do via telneting the ip address of the exchange server on port 25) and to access the internet through 192.168.10.77 (which i can do).

    The Problem:

I cannot ping the exchange server using its netbios name, which poses a problem when setting up Outlook 2007 to point to the exchange server. I have tried to use the ip address and I select check name and it asks me for the usename and password and it works, but as soon as I open Outlook it says that the exchange server cannot be found.

the only thing that works is if I edit the hosts file and manually assign a netbios name to the ip address of the exchange server on each client pc. I do not wish to do this and I feel that there must be a way for this to work through the local dns & routers.

Maybe I am making things too complicated. Can anyone suggest a solution or propose a different way of getting this to work???

I would appreciate any posotive input to this matter.

    Sincerely,

    Macavity.
