I'm working with my father for a month...and he has a wireless router (cable modem) and his laptop and pc works fine.

    I own a Dell Inspiron 4100 is using a Intel(R) PRO/Wireless LAN 2100 3B Mini PCI Adapter with a recent software download.

It's on a shared/open linksys (WRT 54G v5) network and keeps randomly unconnecting every few minutes or sometimes sooner. Sometimes it seems completely random and sometimes there's a spike on my cpu load to a 100%.

I'm hitting the repair LAC3 connection practically all the time.

The spike caused me to think that there was something infected in my computer (possibly svchost was compromised, etc) but I've gone through the whole malware process and there's no changes to my internet connection problems.

My laptop appears to be clean so maybe there's a configuration problem?

Linksys wasn't much help and they kept disconnecting.

    Thanks for reading,
    Cheers

I can't download updates, etc. and it's very frustrating as I work on this laptop as well...I think it has something to do with the miniPCI router interace but can't pinpoint.
