Please Help

I have a thread in the Malware Removal Forum, can this thread be forwarded here? or must I redescribe all that was done there? I was advised by TimW to post here, so I am complying.

I still cannot use System Restore and I due to "policy restrictions" I could not run my Avira Anti-Virus. I removed it manually but when I tried to download it again I was not able to complete the download due to those same, apparantly, policy restrictions.

The use of my Control panel is restored, it had been lost and I can now utilize Safe Mode on my PC which uses Windows XP and is 32 bit.

Please advise thank you.

 

Since TimW sent you over, I can tell you two things:

1. You are still running XP, and it's no longer supported by Microsoft. Your computer is no longer receiving security updates, or repairs to any exploitable vulnerabilities.

2. If you can boot into Safe Mode, you can try running Tweaking's All in One Windows Repair

You also need to consider that your XP installation has been so severely corrupted by malware that the best option is to have all your data backed up, perform a FULL wipe of the hard drive (not a Windows format) and reinstall Windows. This could prove very difficult, as the operating system is no longer supported.

BTW, why do you still have such an old machine?
