I have followed your instructions completely to remove spyware, viruses, etc. None of the programs fixed the problems. I used HighjackThis and referred to Pacman's startup list to remove any obvious. None found. My internet continues to be highjacked and my screen's background is relentlessly overridden by a plain white background. Computer has also slowed down.
    Thank you !!

    nickusa7,

Please read this first before posting a HJT log:NO HIJACK THIS LOG FILES BEFORE READING THIS: HJT Tutorial & LOG File Posting

That said, I do not see anything seriously wrong in your log. Can you give more detailed symptoms? Did you try resetting your browser settings?

Your IE is a little out of date and Backweb is mild spyware often bundled w/ HP products, but they would not contribute to the problem you describe.

Also, are you sure you ran EVERYTHING from the tutorial in the order given. I did not see evidence of the Symantec online scan beingr run. Did you run Stinger and CCleaner?

I have followed your instructions. Nothing was found. My internet continues to be highjacked and my screen's background is relentlessly overridden by a plain white background. My computer has also slowed down quite a bit.
    Thank you !!

If you ran the Symantec online scan now, which was not run the first time or it would have shown in your log, you should read the tutorial in this Sticky thread NO HIJACK THIS LOG FILES BEFORE READING THIS: HJT Tutorial & LOG File Posting

Now post a HijackThis log file as an attachment to your message. All running programs should be closed, including your web browser, e-mail. Close before running Hijack This!

Do NOT run Hijack This from the Desktop, a temp folder, or a sub-folder of C:\Documents and Settings, or choose to run it directly from the downloaded ZIP file. Place it in its own folder, for example C:\Program Files\HJT

Make sure you have HJT version 1.98.2 and follow the guidelines on where to install it and how to post a log as an attachment.
