I have read the tutorial on running all the programs you said. THe problem is the computer I am working on will not hook to the internet to do the online scans. the machine I am talking about is my sister-in-laws and it had 52 viruses and trojans on it, I manually removed about 46 or so of the trojans and was able to get the virus scan to run clean. Then I ran ad aware and it removed about 1000 items from the PC. Problem is I still cant get online, I was able to connect before I did all this. I know I am connected to the ISP, but when I click on Internet Explorer it was trying to load a page over and over really fast, I went in and disabled all the add-ons and it stopped doing that but will not connect to a website. It says cannot find server or DSN error. I have tried everthing I can find to read about this and none of it has helped. If I can get it back online I can complete the scans at the beginning of your tutorial and make sure the machine is clean. This is my first post and any help or suggestions are greatly appreciated.
    Thanks
    Dan

Windows Service Pack 2 comes with a built-in WinSock Fix that you might try. At a command prompt, type: netsh winsock reset

    If that does not work:

    1. Check your firewall settings, sp2 has a built-in firewall and there might be one installed on the system. If so, disable the sp2 firewall.

    2. What anti-virus is installed?
