Please Help

    I am sorry but I am not very savey about my computer ,
    It is running very slow and takes for ever to load when I first start it up , what can I do to speed up my pc ? I am running windows xp

    Also , I am trying to install a update for my accounting program but when I insert the cd I get the following message: C:\Windows\System32|AUTOEXEC.Net . The system file is not suitable for runniong MS-DOS and Microsoft window applications chose 'close' to terminate application

    Are these problems related ? How do I fix?
