please help

I am upgrading a friend of mines computer. He had an HP pavilion with a Pentium 4 CPU and we upgraded him to an AMD64 x2 3800. Obviously we had to get a new motherboard as well. I got everything put together and booted it up. when it gets to the windows loading screen, it reboots the computer everytime. i know it is driver confilcts causing this problem. I can boot into safemode just fine. Is there a way i can uninstall the drivers from the other motherboard without having to format the hard drive?

 

Try XP repair installation.

 

I dont have the disc. the computer we upgraded was an OEM HP Pavilion, so it has an OEM disc that only works with an HP motherboard. normally i would just format the Hard Drive and call it a day, but unfortunatly i cant do that in this situation. Any other suggestions?

 

Try using the OEM HP disc anyway. Unless you already have tried this.....

 

yes, i have already tried that and it tells me the disc can only be used with HP systems...

 

I thought there was a way to uninstall the pervious motherboard drivers from safemode, am I mistaken?

 

No. No, not quite. You can boot into safe mode?

An, annoying thing to try is this: Uninstall EVERY SINGLE DEVICE within device manager, then reboot into normal mode.

IF that doesn't work, there are a few other things to try.......
