PLEASE how can I disable slide show in in Live photo gallery or Irfanview

:confused Would someone please be good enough in plain language explain to me how to disable slideshow in Windows live photo galley and Irfanview photo gallery.
The problem is that every time I attach a jpeg file from my pictures to an Email it always appears(when opened) as a slide show allowing access to all photos in that folder??Not desirable so surely there must be a way of sending single photo attachments.,
