Hi everyone. I'm really sorry if this is a really stupid question and if I am posting in the wrong place. I have spent all day trying to burn a couple of dvds, feel like I have been in front of my pc for ages downloading everything in sight and still cannot do what I am trying to do!!!!

Ok, not sure how much of this is relevant, but I am using a very basic pc with Windows XP. I am trying to make copies of a couple of movie dvds. I am trying to do this all for free as far as possible and so I followed a guide from this site that pointed to downloading dvd shrink (I downloaded version 3.2) and ripit4me and dvd fab decrypter.

i am not sure how to use these programmes and along the way then downloaded imgburn and divxplayer and divxconverter (but I don't think those were fully downloaded as I did not put my card details in) and fileburner.

Could someone please please please point out what to do in very very simple steps? I am so stuck I cannot tell you and no longer know what to do! Please please please help!!!!

nero 7 but its not free, smart ripper i dont think is either but youd need nero anyway, and telling you anything about P2P ie. bittorrent is not kosher with the moderators and its software piracy so my lips are sealed; and i cant think of anything free to do it maybe someone else can.

I use DVDFab HD Decrypter to copy the DVD to the hard drive.

Then use DVD shrink to make it work on a single layer DVD (4.7GB)

Finally IMG Burn to copy it to the DVD

There are links to forums for using each program on their respective web sites. IMG burn has a newer version not listed on MajorGeeks, yet, so I gave their web site. This combination works for me, although I have had trouble with an older version of DVD Shrink on the Compaq Presario Laptop, but worked fine on all other machines, some almost 10 years old. All the above listed software is free but you need the proper hardware to use it fully (DVD Burner).
Good Luck, keep on trying, it's great when the light comes on.:cool

Thank-you so much for your reply...I have tried but I seem to be doing something wrong still! I get to the IMG burn bit and it then comes up with loads of error messages (to be honest I started getting desperate and trying loads of different options) so it came up with everything from the movie is protected (it isn't) to something that I assume is about it being dual layer and then just says it cannot find the file....sorry to be so annoying but do you have any idea what i am doing wrong?
