Please Please Help

Hi everyone, I am having serious problems with the pc. It keeps rebooting its self, and i decided i wanted to format the computer and start afreash.

However it will not let me format and comes up with this error
Driver_irql_not_less_or_equal

I have no idea what to do or what is causing it. I am not very good with the technical sides of computers.

Any help will be grately appreciated.

 

Sounds like you may have a bad piece of hardware. Remove all nonessential PCI cards and then try to boot.

 

Like i said i'm not very good with technical stuff, don't know what the PCI cards are and certainly do not know which are non essential

 

Just checked temperatures in the Bios setup and they are as follows

CPU Temperature is 80 degrees C

System Temperature is 44 degrees C
The system fan speed is showing to be running at 0 rpm, surely could be the source of the problem?

Any ideas

 

Can you get into safe mode?
PCI cards are those cards at the back of your computer that give it extra functionality. For example TV-cards, Sound cards, network cards, usb/firewire cards and so on. They are fitted into white slots and most likely fastened to your case with one screw. You should be able to remove all of them, except your graphics card. That's the one your monitor is connected to.

 

Ok everyone thanks for your help.

I managed to get inside the computer and i cleaned the CPU fan it was very dirty. I was then able to reformat . It seems to be running fine now, fingers crossed that it was just a case of a dirty overheating fan.

Only time will tell i suppose.
