I think the motor on my Plextor Cd-rw is burnt out. The drive gets recognized on all PCs but acts as if it is empty.

When I try to explore it, it opens a new window and shows no content as if the disc in there had no data but I know the disc have data.

    Any suggestions? Sound familiar?

Generally, optical drives make enough noise to hear when they spool up. Can you hear the drive spinning at all? If not, likely the motor is gone. If you CAN hear the drive spinning, and the electronics are OK (Windows recognizes it OK), the laser read/write head may be dirty. There are some cleaning disks designed to brush the lens off, or if you're comfy with disassembling/reassembling things, you can remove the faceplate and cover, and gently clean the lens with pure isopropol alcohol.
