I was downloading an ms word attachment a few hours ago and suddenly McAfee alerted me of a virus named downloader ev. Pop-ups started coming in like crazy then other viruses like downlader ab and qlowzones-15 came in. Ran Virus scan but resulted in cannot be deleted or cleaned or even quarantined. Tried spybot but nothing was detected. Restarted windows then things got worse. my sytem tray kept flashing infected messages that insistently opened my dialer offline, only to send me to multiple spyware sites like spyquake, pestrap, and spyheal when I did go online and clicked on these irritating sytem tray notifications. On top of everything, my IE browser is hijacked to http://www.syssecuritypage.com/! This is crazy!!! spyware sites infecting you with malicious irritating spyware??? whats net marketing come to??

Pls help this newbie out guys!! I hope these spyware infecting spyware people go to hell!

Ive attached my hijackthis log file. thanks guys.

    Welcome to Majorgeeks!

Please read and follow the sticky thread procedures. The second sticky thread down from the top says the below which is what you are talking about in your message.

    www.syssecuritysite.com, safetydefender.com, SecurityBulletin.net - removal

You have other problems too and you really need to follow the below procedure exactly. And make sure you install HijackThis properly as rquested or you will just waste more time getting fixed up.

Please follow our standard cleaning procedures which are necessary for us to provide you support. Also there are steps included for installing, running, and posting HijackThis logs as attachments.
    • Run ALL the steps in this Sticky thread READ & RUN ME FIRST Before Asking for Support
    • Make sure you check version numbers and get all updates.
    • Very Important: Make sure you tell us the results from running the tutorial...was anything found? Were you unable to complete any of the scans?...Were you unable to download any of the tools?...Did you do the on-line scans as suggested? etc.
    • After doing ALL of the above you still have a problem make sure you have booted to normal mode and run the steps in the below link to properly use HijackThis and attach a log:
    • When you return to make your next post, make sure you attach the following logs and that you have run these scans in the following order too (these scans are covered in steps 6 & 7 of the READ & RUN ME sticky)
      • Bitdefender
      • Panda Scan
      • HijackThis

I’ve just confidently finished ALL the steps in the read & run me first tutorial, complete with all the tools and scans run in safe mode with the exception of: substituting counterspy for MS windows defender (an outdated winXP service pack operating system?) and online scans in normal mode since I use dial up. Good news: the apps found some spyware I never noticed before. The bad news: The popups, hijacked IE, and system tray notification junk I mentioned in my last post are still there. It’s not just irritating; it’s slowing my pc down.

So, now I run to you guys for help again with more accurate logs as instructed in proper logging and log posting for bitware, panda activescan, and HJT as well as HJT’s installation and renaming.

    Thanks guys.

I apologize for missing that first critical step. I have then started all over with the steps from the first. the end result was great and the bogus spyalert notifications, popups and IE hijacking to spyquake & co. went away. I also uninstalled tclock and got rid of bgates and win32 trojans with mcafee by using a more updated dat when i noticed these leftover problems.

I now have just a few problems concerning the viruses, dialers and spyware activescan reported that it did not delete. One of them perhaps is responsible for a dial up request for access to drmcboo.com that occassionally pops up.

Are these particular malwares that I hit some kinda package or somethn? they all seemingly rushed in at the same time and Id only get a few trackers that spybot finishes off in the past but never this bad and i was never this prone either.

Thanks. I hope these logs are now accurate. I really wanna kill them all off.

Start by downloading two tools we will need

    - Process Explorer

    - Pocket KillBox

Extract them to their own folder somewhere that you will be able to locate them later.

IMPORTANT: You should print or save the below locally, so you can refer to them while offline. You must exit all browsers before running the below steps and it would be best if you actually physically unplug your cable to the internet, reboot, and do not run anything but what I give you to do. Also it would be good to exit all processes and items in your System tray.

Do the above before continuing! Okay unplug your cable now.

Make sure you have rebooted in Normal Mode (do not open any other processes)

    - Run Process Explorer

In the top section of the Process Explorer screen double click on winlogon.exe to bring up the winlogon.exe properties screen. Click on the Threads tab at the top.

Once you see this screen click on each instance of winpto32.dll once and then click the kill button. After you have killed all of the winpto32.dll under winlogon click ok. (If you do not find the dll, just continue on.)

Now repeat the above step for the below two DLLs:
    pmnqguh.dll

Next double click on explorer.exe and again click once on each instance of winpto32.dll and kill it. (If you do not find the dll, just continue on.)

Now repeat the above step for the below two DLLs:
    pmnqguh.dll

    Now just exit Process Explorer.

Please run HijackThis and click on the Open the Misc Tools Section button on the open page. Then select Open process manager on the left-hand side. Look for the following process (or processes) and one at a time kill them by selecting it and then click Kill process. Then click yes.

    C:\Program Files\Common Files\{6C168A13-057D-1033-0219-020227060001}\Update.exe

After killing all the above processes, click Back.
Then please click Scan and select the following lines but DO NOT CLICK FIX until you exit all browser sessions including the one you are reading in right now:

    O2 - BHO: (no name) - {873eb32d-ae1a-4183-89bd-45a77f761be4} - C:\WINDOWS\System32\ixt0.dll (file missing)
    O20 - Winlogon Notify: winpto32 - C:\WINDOWS\SYSTEM32\winpto32.dll

    Now exit HijackThis!

Copy the bold text below to notepad. Save it as fixme.reg to your desktop.
Be sure the "Save as" type is set to "all files"
Once you have saved it double click it and allow it to merge with the registry.
Now run Pocket Killbox by doubleclicking on killbox.exe
Choose Tools > Delete Temp Files and click Delete Selected Temp Files.
Then after it deletes the files click the Exit (Save Settings) button.
NOTE: Pocket Killbox will only list the added files it is able to find on the system. So when you do the below, if some files do not show in the list after pasting them in, just continue.

    Select:
    • Delete on Reboot
    • then Click on the All Files button.
    • Please copy the file paths below to the clipboard by highlighting ALL of them and pressing CTRL + C (or, after highlighting, right-click and choose copy):

    C:\Program Files\Common Files\{6C168A13-057D-1033-0219-020227060001}\Update.exe
    C:\Documents and Settings\Allen A\Local Settings\Temporary Internet Files\Content.IE5\CJ5M1FG2\srveyk[1].exe
    C:\Documents and Settings\Allen A\Local Settings\Temporary Internet Files\Content.IE5\CJ5M1FG2\srvgem[1].exe
    C:\Documents and Settings\Allen A\Local Settings\Temporary Internet Files\Content.IE5\CJ5M1FG2\srvxrj[1].exe
    C:\Documents and Settings\Allen A\Local Settings\Temporary Internet Files\Content.IE5\NFRSOHHK\srvvrk[1].ex
    C:\WINDOWS\system32\cool.exe
    C:\WINDOWS\system32\pmnqguh.dll
    C:\WINDOWS\System32\ixt0.dll
    C:\WINDOWS\SYSTEM32\winpto32.dll
    C:\WINDOWS\teller2.chk
    • Return to Killbox, go to the File menu, and choose Paste from Clipboard.
    • Click the red-and-white Delete File button. Click Yes at the Delete on Reboot prompt. Click OK at any PendingFileRenameOperations prompt (and please let me know if you receive this message!).
If Killbox does not reboot just reboot your PC yourself.

After reboot run Windows Explorer and delete the below folders:
    C:\Program Files\Common Files\{6C168A13-057D-1033-0219-020227060001}
    C:\WINDOWS\uniq

Now attach a new HJT log and a new log from ShowNew.

Also tell me how the steps went.

Make sure you tell me how things are working now!

    You're welcome!

Your log is clean. If you are not having any other malware problems, it is time to go back to step 1 of the READ & RUN ME to Disable System Restore which will flush your Restore Points. Then reboot and enable System Restore to create a new clean Restore Point.

After that, you should work thru the below link:
