Pls Help!! Vista/Xp on new laptop

Hi here
Purchased new HP media centre laptop. Came with Vista preinstalled. HATE Vista - machine runs like a dog. Tried to work with it, but it wouldn't run any of the software I need it to which makes the machine useless for the purpose I bought it for. Decide to "upgrade" to XP - won't do it. Created recovery disk just in case. Tried formatting drives several ways, finally got DBAN which did the trick of formatting the drive. Now my problem is when booting into the drive, my win xp starts installing and appears to be gonig well, then it aborts saying it cannot find the HDD. Tried recovering the Vista setup to check the drivers - got error message right at the end of the install. I gather I need the drivers or controllers for the HDD so XP can see the drive. I've now got the machine reinstalled with Vista - how do I get the scsi controllers installed during the xp install without using a floppy drive (presuming I can find the drivers?) Any help would be massively appreciated!

I dont know if this is a driver issue (might be) but I think you might get more assistance by posting this question in the software forum here

Thanks so much for your reply. It was a driver problem and after much searching I've finally got it going. Still searching for relevant drivers for other hardware but getting there slowly. Don't know why HP make it so hard to revert to XP it's just ridiculous!

In my opinion, I think that most companies are focusing on the "future" windows so they arent really bothering with assistance with the previous or current versions. Again just my opinion, I could be wrong
