So my new laptop won't let me watch any video stuff. It keeps telling me I need to download the necesary plugin (but doesn't specify which one). So I click on the auto download neccessary plugin option that pops up, and it says there aren't any and do I want to manually download.

    I have downloaded..

    Windows media
    Flash player
    Shockwave
    Real

    You name it...still I can't view a video.

Is there something in my settings that is wrong? I am totally lost and any help would be appreciated. Thanks.

What is the extention of the file you trying to play? avi? mpg? What OS?

    What player are you using?

Have you tried a different player?

I think it is a Firefox quirk. It seems to work fine when I use the "switch" to IE add-on within firefox.

I have no idea of the file type..it gives me no info on that, but in IE it opens the video clip in Windows Media Player fine.

    OS is Windows Media XP.
