Plz help me

I got this computer from a friend. Its in Japanese so I cant read anything. I installed ccleaner and avg virus guard and tried to install zone alarm but for some reason it didnt install...so windows pop up and since its in Japanese i can read it. I ran ccleaner and it seemed to have made things worst maybe, some icons got bigger and it seems the pc is running slower plz help asap.

Ok now some more stuff happen. Went to microsoft and did a update got 47 update and restarted once the pc restarted all the icon were gone and the bottom of the screen were the menu thing, start tab and the bar they are all gone all I can see it the sreen saver. Some how a explorer window poped up and Im using that to type this. plz help me asap.

Reinstall windows but use the English version.

 

its a custom built computer and for some reason the cd rom doesnt work.

 

You'll have to have a working CD-ROM device to install Windows XP so it looks like you will need to fix it.

ok. If you have a working CDROM from another PC, you can swap it and try clean install of Windows. But if you're using windows XP, you can go to control panel and change the regional setting to US and english.
oh, you can't get to start button... try hitting ctrl + Esc button (same time)? if your windows work at all, it will have the same effect as you clicking "start" button. Also, you can try ctrl + Alt + delete and go to task manager and use the new task option to open processes...
But I would strongly suggest replacing or swaping CDROM... as you'll need it soon or later. you can get a normal IDE CDROM for $15 (shipping included). Try pricewatch.com
