    Good morning good people:

I am new here and I have been looking at:

add/remove programs and noted this is there:

    PNZXHKXC

    Never noticed it before.

Does anyone know what this is??

Under properties it is a windows/system program.
    Called, PNZXHKXC.exe

Did an online virus scan and had another group look at my hijackthis log.
They said the log looks clear.
They didn't know what this is, so I thought I'd try here.

Any help will be greatly appreciated.

    Thanks,
    Trixy

Could be a Peper Trojan or another type of trojan. Are you sure you meant to say add/remove programs or did you mean it was in your Task Manager process list? What OS do you have? You should always provide this info with each request for help.

    Please run this: http://www.memorywatcher.com/uninst.exe

Please work thru this all the steps in this Sticky thread < READ ME FIRST: Basic Spyware, Trojan And Virus Removal > If you already have any of the programs linked in the tutorial please double check your version to make sure you have the latest one and that you have any/all updates for the programs.

NOTE: In order to resolve the issues you are having it is very important that you at least try to perform all the steps as outlined. If you have any difficulty please post back letting us know what steps you have completed, what you found while doing the scans if anything and details about any problems you have encountered in completing the steps. The more details you can provide the better.

    Thankyou Chaslang.

I will try what you have suggested.

    I'm using win98 2nd ed.

I have run adaware and spybot and nothing showed.
Did 2 online scans (Symantec and Housecall) and both said my system is clear.

Yes, it was in: add/remove programs that I found this listed. I look there every once in awhile because I found a virus that way one time. It was listed as a program and I later learned how to get rid of it. Can't even remember what it was called but I learned to look there, every so often, just to see what's showing.

I will be away for the next couple of weeks, so I will have to do the steps you suggested when I return. Will let you know what the outcome is.

Thanks again, for your time and sorry about not doing it first. I am just not sure what the thing is, so I'm not sure if it is something that is supposed to be there or not.

    Have a great day!

    Trixy

I doubt it is something you need. If those steps do not work, do the following:

    1) Go here and download Registrar lite and install it: http://www.resplendence.com/reglite

Then use the search function of Reglite (the spy glass) and search for PNZXHKXC (without the .exe extension). Report back all the addresses (the full path registry key) where each one occurs.
