Pocket PC/PDA HP 211 Dead technology??

I am not quite yet ready to buy a small laptop/notebook and it is sad to say but a UMPC like the Samsung is not in the budget either. My phone plan is not a possibility for another year to get a deal I want a smart phone like Blackberry either.

I have been thinking of getting a HP 211 Ipaq if the price is right, for the following uses:
Email checking
Digital pic display -- like a portable frame
Scheduling (heavy use there will sync to desktop)
Contact management
Budget tracking in field.

Big question though:
Will this soon be obsolete with no parts available from HP? Used to have a Dell Axim X51V so am familiar with the Pocket PC world.

Do you want a PDA or do you want a device that functions like a laptop?

 

I had to think about that for a minute myself. I think I would like something which functions like a laptop really. Don't know if a UMPC would be good or if I should just get a small laptop. I have also looked at the Blackberry Curve but was not sure how good a job it would do with sync with desktop or if the display is easy to read for calendar, contacts, images.
