pon.exe

In my travels across the internet and through the depths of my computer today, I learned more than I ever dreamed I would about spyware/adware/browser hijackers. As a former Mac user, this is a whole new world to me. The one program that finally seemed to sort out the searchmall issue was HijackThis ... not a program for beginners or for the faint of heart! I deleted this, that, and the other according to the instructions on this website, but consistently found myself back with the searchmall homepage After running the program I don't remember how many times, I noticed two small programs listed in the middle of the page.... fash.exe and pon.exe A quick Google search led me right back to majorgeeks to find out it was spyware! Aha!! I deleted it, and have had no more problems. BUT!!!!! In my incessant curiosity, I looked up pon.exe .... there were a couple of webpages in Italian..... but nothing that actually said what the program was. Has anyone else heard of it? Know what it is?

 

Uh huh.. and if I wasn't so bleepin' brain dead today, I would have remembered to include the following info in my previous post. This is a Dell computer.. 4.8G Pentium 4, 80Gb hard drive, Windows XP Pro 5.1-Service Pack 1, IE 6. We have AdAware 6.0, AVG 6.0, ZoneAlarm, McAfee (needs updating) and HijackThis.
