The yahoo tool bar now also comes with a pop up stopper. I have been using it for 2 weeks and it seems to work real good.

Nope and nope. If they are free, maybe. But, writing popup blockers is programming 101 stuff, they should be released as freeware, half of them are poorly written and not worth a dime. There are too many alternatives out there that are better and free. In other words, why run a blocker in startup when you can use an IE addon or Opera and enjoy popup blocking, tabbed blocking, mouse gestures, etc.? IE may be adding all these in SP2 for XP anyhow.

Google toolbar is not bloated nor spyware, installed it on dozens of low end machines.

No, Google can be considered spyware, but it depends. It allows you to look for similar websites that your visiting in its advanced features, for example. In order to do this, it must see what websites your at and send data back and forth to Google. Sadly, the spyware thing in some cases, has gotten a bit overly paranoid and this can be called spyware, but its not, since its clearly explained to you in the settings :) Simply do not use the advanced features on install. Hope that makes sense? :)

If any of the 6 programs that I use to detect spyware were to tell me that yahoo has spyware. I would look into it.

I have used the companion for a very long time now and none of the software I use to detect spyware says that yahoo is spyware.

those companies are pretty well established and do not use the tactics that low life scumbags use to get you to go to their site.

    I use

    Spybot
    Ad aware
Panda (although not a spyware remover but still helps)
Pest Patrol (which sometimes gives false alarms)
    Spyware blaster
SPyware Guard (not necessarely to detect but to prevent

Your best bet is Google....I'm with the
    Major and AlanC ;)

P.S. I'm not sure how to stop the msg box
from the toolbar....I use the Deskbar and it
has settings options which allows you to select
whether you see this and stops the counting of
the blocked messages....look for it by right clicking? ;)

And....just for fun :p I'm not going to use a pop up
blocker from a org that has you agree they have
the right to show you advertisements if you wish to use
their services.....what are they going to block?....all
    ads but theirs?....just a thought. ;)

There is a new tool bar in town!!!

I have used Google's tool bar and have had no problems. I like the built in popup blocker (I had purchased PopUp Stopper Pro , but found that the tool bar did a better job).

:( But I have had some of the same concerns about Goggle gathering info from me, but again I have been unable to verify that.

There is a new tool bar with some of the same property as Goggle's and it is also FREE :D . They claim that they do not gather any info at all.

The name of the tool bar is JetBar http://www.jetbar.com

I hope this tool bar does not come with any hidden problems.
