Pop-up Madness!

    I'm working with a Dell xps r350MHz Pentium II minitower base with MMX technology and windows 98.
    Suddenly, as if there is some form of virus, i'm being literaaly attacked by pop-up ads. from on-line gambling to free dental examinations, they're non stop and literally demand constant attention. it's now to the point where i'm unable to use the computer. i have a cable connection and even when i'm not at the pc they invade my desktop. something is wrong and i need help. HELP!!!!

    he should also turn his windows messenger service off if he hasn't already.... can someone remind him now to do that?
