Pop Up Stopper

I installed Pop Up Stopper from Panicware, but I also have a pop up stopper from my Google toolbar.
My question(s) is/are
Should I uninstall Pop up Stopper? Does it hurt to have both?

Hope you can help me. I have the XP OS and I cannot uninstall the panicware and and gain publishing crap. I have tried erasing them both but files/folders still remain and the icons are still in my desktop tray. What more do I need to do?

 

System Restore will remove it from the registry. Then you just have to delete the program files. There are some registry cleaners here on MG that may do it for you if you don't want to, or can't go that route, but having not used them, someone else will have to reccomend one.

In regards to popups and such:

I would use a non IE browser myself.

It is generally a bad idea to use IE, even in its SP2 version, (included with Windows XP SP2) There are still security holes that are merely being covered up by the popup blocker.

I would rather have a browser that is not blatantly insecure that includes popup blocking.

I reccomend Firefox.

Stear clear of any IE overlay browsers if you are looking for security. An overlay still builds on a weak foundation.

I've tested the latest versions of K-Meleon, Firefox, Opera, and IE(SP2).


Only IE failed the test.
