Pop up telling me....

allright the title of the pop up is "microsoft visual c++ Runtime Library


then in the box it says "Runtime Error!"
next line, "program: C:\PROGRA~1\web offer\wo.exe"
final line, "abnormal program termination"


what is this, is it a virus or something real?

 

Looks like you have some broken spyware. Kind of a good thing, really. Did you recently run an anti-spyware program which found and removed some things? If so, sometimes there are registry entries-- which do not get deleted by the anti-spyware-- which continue to try to run the now non-existent spyware program. There are a couple of places in your Windows Registry you can go to clean such entries out, but you must be knowledgable and comfortable with deleting registry keys, or you can make things worse. They are:

HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Run
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Run

If you navigate in your registry to these locations, there will be several sub-keys below each of these that specify programs that start when Windows does. If you see the one containing the line C:\PROGRA~1\web offer\wo.exe, or similar, since the long pathnames should be specified, like C:\ProgramFiles\Web offer\wo.exe, you can right click on the Name of that subkey (in the right-hand pane) and Delete it. Close the registry, reboot, and see if the error reappears.
