Pop-ups ?

    What's up with all the highlights and pop-ups. It didn't do it a few days ago. Looks like ad people have gotten to Major Geeks too!

    I believe the ads you speak of are only visible if you aren't logged in to the board. Once you sign in, they disappear. At least that's what I've noticed.

    He wouldn't be able to post if he wasn't logged in, and MGs has never done pop-up ads anyway. ;)

    sounds alot like some one has some nasties on his PC haha, I strongly suggest you run spybot S&D and maybe a virus scan? :)

    ditto, but I have AdBlock Plus installed, which may be stopping it. (that or some other block)


    They are vibrant ads and only show up if you are unregistered or browsing while not signed in.

    To make sure they aren't there, just log in. If you don't have an account, create one and navigate with that. No popups.

    Don't see any hovering or vibrant adds.. Signed in or not - with cookies cleared or not - no Internet temp files or all of them. AdBlock enabled or otherwise. Thank god for small mercies :)
    Could be for my region :-D

    I've never seen them either, and am using IE7. Might want to think about logging in, and checking that little box that says "remember me" and just not log out, then you are always logged in when you come to this site... No pop-ups ;) Just a thought.. ;)

    Solaris is correct a few months ago adverts exactly like the front download pages where added to the forum and to make it not obtrusive to active members they only show if you are not logged in, so login to make them not show or use an ad blocker.

    The adverts where added to generate income from the forum as well as the main pages as the forum and the servers etc that host it need to be paid for.

    Text links possibly, very common and we use less then most sites. A survey popup appeared last week, Jim tracked it down and removed it. Only way you get the ad to appear is by mousing over, which we make EASY to avoid, again unlike many sites.

    Ads will be seen on the forum UNLESS you have a free account and are logged in.
