Oddly, Hotmail/Live still does not provide this info and we have to get it from other sources. Here's a source: http://www.firetrust.com/en/hotmail_pop3. I'd much rather have an account setup as POP3 rather than HTTP if possible. HTTP simply was never intended to be used for an email account in an email client.

Caution: If you decide to change a Hotmail/Live account that you have been using in an email client to a POP3 account, I suggest you back up your email messages before making the change. The only way I saw to make the change in Windows Live Mail was to delete the HTTP account and then create a POP3 account. By deleting the email account, the messages also disappeared. But, they re-appeared in the new POP3 account. I don't recall whether this is because I had enabled a setting in the former HTTP account to leave messages on the server, or perhaps the HTTP account leaves messages on the server by default; I can't recall on this point.
