Port Forwarding - Fios Router

I am trying to forward port 7 or 9 so I can wake my iMac on Lan. I have gone through my router and done all the port forwarding like I normally do and it doesn't seem to work.

When I go to a port checking website it says port 9 is closed...same when I try 7. I also attempted to open Both UDP/TCP and each individually, it didn't make a difference.

Please help :cry

 

I personally am not that great with Macs but this does seem more networking related...

Have you tried turning the device off and back on again?
Kidding.

Anyway. Check the Built in firewall inside the mac, go to apple logo top left, preferences, system and security (if I recall correct)

Going past that, have you tried putting the device inside the DMZ (De-Militarized Zone)? That will narrow down where the block is coming from.

It is also possible that FIOS has those ports blocked and you may need to contact them to check if they are available to be opened. Certain ISP's block ports to prevent malicious usage

 

I checked the firewall and it is turned off.

Not sure what you mean by DMZ

I will check with FIOS although I am sure whoever answers the phone will have no clue. Are there any other ports that work with WOL?

 

The DMZ is an area on the router, like a setting that will place that particular device "off network" and outside of the router firewall. It removes alot of protection though so I only recommend using it for de-bugging purposes.
Then again, I just noticed you are trying to do wake on LAN, which setting this outside of the LAN network it is basically connecting to it via internet which most likely will not work for you...
