Port Fwd Help Please!!

Hi, I have a problem... Thats why im here lol.

I am tring to use a program called Qnext to talk with my online instructor for school. I cannot seem to get the port forwarding to work. I thought I did everything right but I must have missed something. I have cable internet modem that connects to my Apple Base station (wireless). The Apple Base station controls my main PC with Windows XP and my Laptop that is an G4 Ibook. Ok.. so I went into my router and told it to give my Windows PC access to certain ports. I set my TCP/IP to specified Ip address and gave it its own static IP. Then I went into the router and told it to send those ports to the same IP as my Windows PC now has. I went to try and run Qnext and it told me the same thing. Couldnt connect check router. I disabled firewalls to use troubleshooting techniques and that did not help. If anyone has any advice that would be helpful please do tell.
