Port Scan Question

I have Sygate. It tells me when someone is scanning my computer. I have stealth protection, which I believe, makes my PC invisable, ports are undetectable. Sygate allows me to see who's scanning my PC. One is Comcast Cable, which is my internet provider. Should I be worried? Am I right to assume my PC is undetectable while online, regardless of port scan warnings?

    Thanks

No computer is undetectable stealth or not.

What IP did the scan originate from?

If it's from your ISP don't worry; it's just a ping. If your security system is blocking the scan attempts it's probably okay. I get lots of port scans every day and Zone Alarm deflects them -- so far anyway. Adrynalyne is right though, nothing will keep you safe from a sophisticated assault without going the router and hardwired firewall route but the software firewalls like you and I have can keep the "script kiddies" and other unsophistocated, clumsy wannabes at bay.

Common, I am having the same problem as you. I have Sygate as well, and I am receiving a port scan every 2-5 minutes. This has been going on for about a month now. Someone told me about the Slap program, and I use it but it is difficult to use it when multiple IP addresses keep scanning me. Does anyone else have some advice?

Don't do anything, there's not much you can do. At most programs like this are just slowing the internet down, and are possible mediums for DrDoS attacks but with more packets sent, bassicly, just ignore it, most likely half of those reports are bunk.

I think we established that Slap doesnt actually do anything at all, since the person scanning would have to have a program running to read the data it sends, which isnt likley!!
