Portable Applications

    I like to use "Portable" applications rather than ones that must actually be installed upon a computer. For example, I use the portable versions of CCleaner, Tweaking.com-WindowsRepair, Crystal Disk Info, HWinfo, SUMo, and several others on all 7 of my Windows machines. They do not have to be installed, but they can be placed on the hard drive with a desktop shortcut. making them also easy to take off the computer.

    So when I start looking for a specialized application, I usually look for a "Portable" application first, thus my idea ...

    On the left hand side of the Majorgeeks website is a box labeled "Files" with several catagories such as "All in one tweaks", "Android", etc. How about a separate category for "Portable" applications. It would be extremely useful for me and, I'm sure, many others.

    HUH? When there's a portable version, we provide the link. Not sure what else you expect. It's been my experience screaming ALL APPS SHOULD BE PORTABLE that the masses don't listen. Regardless, any app with a portable version IS available.

    What "files" box? Are you talking about the "search" box? The only things that can be done is to search for the app you want and see if there is a portable version.

    I don't know about other apps, but when I type in "ccleaner portable" it takes me right to it.

    The OP wants a Portable Apps category added to this list, redirecting to a complete listing of every portable application hosted on MG's.....alot of work for somebody, I would imagine.

    what about adding a category for Portable Apps, and everytime one is encountered, it be added to the list? Seems to me that this would not be a lot of work for someone knowing how to change html pages.

    Maybe when enough people ask for it, it may be done. In the meantime, just put in the search box the app you are looking for and add the word portable. If that doesn't work for you, there is always google.

    At first it seems like a good idea. But, all the different types of applications will be bundled together. Therefor there would have to be sub-categories. And that's going to take some work...
