Porting Office 2000 to WINE- ACCESS.exe

My sil and I have been working for a week to find how to port an Access DB into WINE. It seems to be next to impossible.

Anyone here done this? Yes, I RTM and no it did not work for us.

I told him with the 25-30 hrs we have researched it, he could have rebuilt the silly tables over in Mysql.

I don't know of anyone who has gotten MS Access to run under WINE. Looking over the material at Frank's Corner, I'm not even sure it can be done.

What about simply exporting the Access DB file then importing into OpenOffice Base?

Know it's not much help, and not what you were trying to do. I gave up trying to get Access to run under WINE a couple of years ago.

Now that OpenOffice has a Database included in the suite, importing to OOo Base should work. I know that OOo2 for Windows reads Access mdb files, but the Linux version doesn't support Access mdb files.

 

I never give up until told to do so on MG!
