Ports Blocked by ISP

I'm currently attempting to host a server off my computer. Certain ports are required to be opened in order for others in the outside world to connect. But these ports are being blocked by my ISP Cox. Forwarding of all ports does not seem to work even ones not specifically blocked by the ISP as I've later read they are only specific ports such as for MySQL and HTTP webservers.

So what I'm basically asking is, is there a way I can bypass my annoying ISP and gain access to these ports. Proxies probably aren't a good idea as they go through other servers and with that loose performance. I'm talking about possibly making a gaming server as well. So I need the performance.

I don't know, maybe a lost cause, but I've always gotten pretty good results from MajorGeeks and I figured after everything I've tried myself, I'd just give in and ask for help. Thanks in advance for any help you might provide.

No theres nothing you can do to get around port blocking, not even proxies. Find a a new isp is your best solution. Or you can tell your server to use a different port.
