Possible Dead LCD Monitor

I have two monitors hooked up to my nVidia 9800GTX+: an Acer X213H 1080p and an Acer X193W 1440x900.

When I turned on my computer today, everything was working fine. Then, about 5 minutes after logging in, Windows makes the noise like something is unplugged and my secondary monitor, the X193W, goes dark. I can't turn it back on, and Windows isn't detecting anything connected to my video card. Everything else plugged into the surge protector works fine, so I'm thinking my monitor must have just kicked the bucket.

Any ideas about how I can fix this? Or will I just need to buy a new monitor?

Did you have an adapter, or does your monitor plug directly into a modular cord?

Is there any illumination on the power button?

It plugs directly into a modular cord. There was no power button illumination.

I fixed it by unplugging the end that went into the monitor then plugging it back in. Doing the same action on the end that goes into the wall socket didn't fix anything.

Any idea what could have caused it so I can prevent it from happening again?

It may be a problem with the socket on the monitor. Try not to jiggle it too much if it has become "loose", there is the outside chance you could cause a direct short.

    At least it works.
