Ok, here's what happened. I updated the drivers for both my motherboard and my graphics card. The card is a Geforce 8800gtx and the board is an nforce 680i, both of which are about 2 and a half years old. About a day after i updated the drivers, i started to get graphical errors and blue screens. I would boot into safe mode and then there would be these wavy red bars across the screen. I completely reinstalled windows 7 and im still occasionally getting graphical errors so im starting to wonder if it's actually the video card that's messed up and not the drivers. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated before i go spending a ton on a new card. Many thanks in advance.

Does the graphics card work for any of the time? or is it always showing the bsod's ect.?

Also what psu do you have?

Yeah, its messing up as soon as the computer boots. My psu is 1000w.

Had the same thing happen to me, same card too. I'm not completely sure if it was the card or the PCI-e slot. I don't have another card to test the slot but Device Manager shows an unrecognized device and I can't seem to get the driver working on it again, so --- it might be the slot. Best of luck to you. Luckily, I had a spare old PCI card to suffice for the meantime...
